LOPAMUDRA BASULopa Basu has been an Assistant Professor of English at University of Wisconsin-Stout since 2005. She grew up in Calcutta, India and attended the University of Delhi, New Delhi where she received BA and MA degrees. She received her PhD in English from the City University of New York. Her doctoral research focused on the postcolonial novel of South Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. Her current research interests include contemporary world literature, transnational feminist theory, ethnic literatures, and globalization studies. She is currently co-editing a collection of critical essays on the South Asian American poet Meena Alexander, which is forthcoming from Cambridge Scholars Press, UK. At UW-Stout, she has been the faculty advisor for the campus chapter of the student organization STAND: Students against Genocide. She is also the Assistant Director of the University Honors Program.Public Presentations:Public Program Ideas: Lopamudra Basu is willing to serve as a discussion facilitator for community groups as well as a respondent to film screenings. She can also serve as an advisor for curriculum development on diversity and co-existence. Other topics of interest and expertise, on which she would happily serve as a panelist or presenter, are international conflict, peaceful protest, and religious violence.
