JAMES P. BOISVERT
James Boisvert recently retired after thirty-five years teaching in the public school systems of Indiana and Wisconsin. He taught elementary students for thirty years in Whitewater, Wisconsin. During his career in elementary education, he was listed regularly in “Who’s Who of America’s Teachers” and was honored twice as an excellent teacher by the Wisconsin Center for Academically Talented Youth.
James has developed four characters that represent different eras in American History and presents “Historical Interpretations” for school or public groups. More information about his work is available at http://historicalinterpretations.webs.com .

Jean Beloit
Jean Beloit is a fictional French “voyager” from the late 1600s who has traveled across Wisconsin and Canada trading for beavers during the “Fur Trade Era”. In character, complete with French-accented English, James Boisvert brings the era alive with tales of adventure that illustrate the realities of the lifestyle and the landscape before Wisconsin became a state. This character is well suited to Wisconsin’s Fourth Grade Curriculum.
William Caldwell
Dressed as an English schoolmaster from the 1700s, James Boisvert interprets history as Mr. Caldwell, a fictional teacher who relates the experiences of a colonial schoolmaster. The audience will experience some of the unique features of learning in a one-room schoolhouse during the 18th century, such as recitation and singing, and will have the opportunity to write on slate boards. This character is suitable for fourth or fifth grade curriculum.
James Nesbit
Pioneer, James Nesbit, takes teachers and students back to the days when wagons rolled westward, specifically on “The Oregon Trail”. The audience will hear of the trials and tribulations of those countless pioneers who followed the trail seeking their “Manifest Destiny”.
Joseph (Yosef), Auschwitz Survivor
James Boisvert solemnly portrays Joseph, a survivor of the death camp at Auschwitz, Poland. Joseph tells his story and the story of countless others who suffered at the hands of the Nazis. Due to the contents, this character is suitable for middle school or high school aged students. |
