JODIE PARYSJodie Parys teaches Spanish at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. After receiving her PhD in Contemporary Latin American Literature from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Parys taught at Madison Area Technical College and Alverno College before joining the faculty at UW-Whitewater. Her research areas include the intersection of disease and contemporary literature, focusing specifically on the AIDS epidemic. Parys also is a strong proponent of service learning, which she uses in her language classrooms and is the focus of a new research project she is undertaking.
