Let Me Tell You about MY Family . . .
We share part of who we are through the stories we tell about ourselves. Storyteller and social work professor Jim Winship shares stories that are humorous, and a bit sad, about growing up in East Tennessee, as well as stories of other families. The program will conclude with his observations on the role of family stories and an invitation for audience members to talk about stories in their families.
Poverty and Homelessness: A First-Person View
What is it like to be out on the streets? Facts and figures can help people comprehend poverty and homelessness, but the experience of being poor or being without a place to live is more than an economic condition. In this presentation, storyteller and social work professor Jim Winship weaves together first-person accounts that help the audience put a face on poverty and homelessness.
