Wisconsin's Free Speech Legacy
What is freedom of speech? Why care about it? Is there too much freedom of speech? Does anyone ever have their right to free speech violated? This introduction to freedom of speech addresses various questions about free speech through important historical and contemporary Wisconsin cases involving national security, political protest, religious speech, freedom of the press, campus speech codes and academic freedom, and others. This is a non-partisan presentation aimed at stimulating discussion about, and increased knowledge of, our First Amendment right to free speech and its relationship to democracy and citizenship. The exact subject matter of each presentation is adjusted to fit the needs of the host organization. If there is access to an Internet connection, the presentation can be enhanced with Web-based material.
