CAROL O. SMARTCarol O. Smart is Oneida and one of the oldest grandchildren of Dr. Minoka-Hill. She is an experienced actress and playwright who continues to refine her skills through workshops and consultations. She has developed this one-woman play over the course of several years. It has been well received in Wisconsin and elsewhere.Public Presentations:Honor Song! The Dr. Rosa Minoka-Hill Story (An Early Native American Woman Physician, 1876-1952) Carol O. Smart brings to life the memories of the first woman doctor honored with a lifetime membership to the state medical society, her grandmother, Dr. Rosa Minoka-Hill. Dr. Minoka-Hill's life reveals the struggles faced by Native Americans in Wisconsin, and America. It also illustrates the virtues of humility and hard work, best characterized through the dignity and grace of one of Wisconsin's finest and most-overlooked figures. Other Public Program Ideas: Carol Smart’s1940s stage set helps to engage lively talk-backs following her moving performance.
