Florence Eiseman: Designing Childhood for the American Century-Fashion 411
Grab a glass of bubbly and spend an evening with Milwaukee's fashion experts, Jordan Dechambre and Bjorn Nasett. Providing personal style advice, Dechambre and Nasett will cover seasonal trends and fashion faux pas that will enable bold fashion statements. Space is limited. This event is part of an exhibition that includes over 100 historic garments, photographs and objects, as well as an online public-sourced exhibition. The project examines how Eiseman (1899-1988), an important Milwaukee-based fashion designer, created the style of the ideal Post War American child. Through the exploration of her distinctive designs, this project poses questions about the history of childhood, girlhood, race, accessibility, the fashion industry, and elite culture in the American Century.
