John Eastberg, Executive Director of the Pabst Mansion, explores the period after Reconstruction, the last few decades of the 19th Century, known as the "Gilded Age" when the economy, technology, government and social customs in America were in transformation to a new industrial society marked by upper class opulence and philanthropy alongside immigration, social reform movements and machine politics.
