Forge Workshop inspired by the play LOCOMOTION (for Family Audiences)

First Stage's new initiative -- Forge Workshops --are aimed to enhance the audience experience of our production of Jacqueline Woodson's play LOCOMOTION. LOCOMOTION tells the story of an eleven-year-old boy nicknamed Locomotion who learns how to walk through tragedy and emerge whole, thanks to his newly discovered passion for writing poetry. First Stage will facilitate workshops for audiences of all ages that reflect on the story of LOCOMOTION and explore how poetry and spoken word can be positive coping skills that can help one build empathy and connect one to his or her community. Participants will engage in focused dramatic scene work and expression, group discussion, and spoken word.
