The WHC gives grants for public humanities programs that explore any topic from the perspective of one or more of the humanities disciplines.
- Public: the program reaches an audience beyond the
college or university campus
- Humanities: archaeology; cultural anthropology;
art history, theory and criticism; ethics; ethnic studies; folklore;
history; jurisprudence; languages; linguistics; literature; philosophy;
religious studies; women's studies; historical or philosophical
approaches to the social sciences
- Programs: museum exhibits, book discussions, lecture series, guided tours, humanities festivals, oral history projects, teacher institutes, and various other formats.
