DAN MCFETERS
Dan McFeters has been presenting educational programs for almost 30 years. He owns a living history facility in Port Washington used by school groups, scout groups, and other visitors. Visit his Web site at www.danmcfeters.com.
Public Presentations:
Dan'l McPheerson, Mountainman
Dan McFeters as Dan'l McPheerson, Mountainman, provides a first-person account of the fur trade up to the year 1836. Dressed in buckskins, McFeters demonstrates the tools and weapons used during the fur trade era. He presents a lively discussion of Manifest Destiny, Andrew Jackson, Native American influences, western expansion, and what was known as the "company system."
A Bethlehem Potter
A Bethlehem Potter is a first person presentation of a potter named Daniel 2000 years ago. While making pots on a kick wheel, Dan McFeters talks about encounters with Jesus, Romans, and others using biblical analogies and events as a basis for philosophy and Christian ideals. This is not heavy-handed with message but is designed to stimulate thought and discussion. This non-denominational program is great for groups of any type and is inspirational, humerous, and thought-provoking.
1776 Colonial Times
Dressed as a colonial gentleman, known as Colonel Fergus McPheerson, Dan McFeters presents an interpretation of events leading up to the Declaration of Independence. This program is a patriotic experience that puts a face on an exciting part of American history.
Other Public Program Ideas: Dan McFeters offers tours and educational programs at Clay Creek Living History Facility and would be happy to work with your organization to design a program that fits your needs and interests.
