Securing the Future for the WHC: Planned Gifts Make a Difference
One generous donor has told us that he has included the WHC in his will because “the values and beliefs enshrined in the heritage of the humanities are disappearing today.” He feels that the WHC is the most effective vehicle for keeping the humanities alive in Wisconsin.
There are many ways to make a planned gift, the simplest and most straightforward being a bequest. A codicil to a will can be worded as follows: “I give to the Wisconsin Humanities Council: the sum of $_______; or ________% of my estate; or the following described property, to be used to further its goal of providing public humanities programming in the state of Wisconsin.”
There are other mechanisms for deferred gifts, including life insurance, trusts, annuities, and gifts of stock. If you have questions about these matters, we encourage you to contact an attorney or financial advisor, or contact Dean Bakopoulos, Executive Director, ccbakopoulos@wisc.edu, 608-265-5594.
