Wisconsin Humanities Council Awards Grants
for Projects Around the State
Madison, WI, August 15, 2007 — In its latest grant round, the Wisconsin Humanities Council has awarded mini-grants the following projects.
$2,000.00 to Clear Lake Area Community Center, Inc. for Midwestern Regional Wisconsin Photographic History Project*
$2,000.00 to Milwaukee Public Television for The War in Wisconsin
$2,000.00 to University of Wisconsin - Barron County for Sustainable Literatures 2007-08 Reading Series, Community Seminar & Community Creative Writing Workshops*
$1,000.00 to The Center for the Humanities, UW-Madison for One Hundred Years of Solitude in Wisconsin
$1,000.00 to St. Croix Falls Public Library for Big Read Book Distribution, Northwest Wisconsin
$750.00 to Waupaca Area Public Library for Lunch n' Learn with The Surley Surveyor, Rob Nurre (Between Fences Program)*
*These were made possible by a generous donation from The Boldt Company, a Wisconsin-based a construction services firm, for the support of projects that explore the changing nature of farming and rural life through the humanities disciplines.
In addition, the Council has awarded funds to the following public libraries. These funds will go towards public book discussion series as part of the WHC's A More Perfect Union Program.
$700.00 to Walter E. Olson Memorial Library of Eagle River for A More Perfect Union: Domestic Tranquility
$500.00 to Portage County Public Library of Stevens Point for A More Perfect Union: Domestic Tranquility
$400.00 to Neillsville Public Library for A More Perfect Union: The Common Defense
$245.00 to Hales Corners Library for A More Perfect Union: Domestic Tranquility

The Wisconsin Humanities Council
Established in 1972 as an independent affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Wisconsin Humanities Council supports public programs that engage the people of Wisconsin in the exploration of human cultures, ideas, and values. To accomplish its mission, the Council awards grants to support programs in libraries, museums, universities, historical societies, schools, and other nonprofit settings throughout the state.
