Joyce Westerman, Wisconsin Women, and the All American Girls Professional Baseball League

Dr. Bob Kann explores the working lives of Kenosha native Westerman and the 36 other Wisconsin women who played professional baseball between 1943-1954 in the All American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGBPL). Kann addresses the meaning of their work as baseball players, their off-season employment, and working lives before the league was founded during the Great Depression and after the league folded in 1954.
